Common questions
- Why does a large door opening need structural work?
- Removing a long run of wall takes out both the load path and the shear resistance. That load has to be carried by a new header and posts, and the lost bracing replaced with reconfigured shear walls or steel moment frames.
- Do you coordinate with the engineer and door manufacturer?
- Yes. We work from the stamped structural drawings and the manufacturer's rough-opening and sill requirements, then confirm tolerances before the unit ships.
- How do you keep an oversized opening watertight?
- Sill pans, back dams, sloped substrates, and flashing integrated with the existing weather barrier. Large sliding systems fail at the sill first, so that detail gets built and inspected before finishes go on.
